Wednesday, February 16, 2011

We arranged for the bus to come pick us up at the hotel at 4:30.  Stopped at El Colonial supermarket on the way to the Opening Ceremony and Ice Breaker event.  Everyone bought a few needed items; snacks, Gatorade, granola bars,  bananas and oranges.
The Opening Ceremony was nice, there were several guest speakers including some gentlemen who have played in a World Cup in the 80s.  There were two musical pieces, perfornned by High School girls.  Following the Athlete's Oath, was the Ice Breaker for the players.
We arrived back a the hotel about 9pm.
We will be downstairs at the buffet breakfast tomorrow by 6 am.

Checking out the field at the host school.

Waiting in the San Salvador airport for the flight to San Pedro Sula.

Tocumen airport departure.

In Honduras!

We have arrived safely in Honduras, after having had two very nice flights.  On our second flight, from San Salvador to San Pedro Sula, threre was another AASCA soccer team (The American Nicaraguan School )  traveling with us. The pilot announced  that both teams were onboard and wished  both teams good luck.  There was applause from the almost full cabin.
It is overcast, and we had some rain on the bus ride in from the airport.  The Crowne Plaza Hotel is very nice and they let us have an early check-in.  The tean is eating lunch in the hotel restaurant, and have made plans to watch the Barcelona-Arsenal Champions League game together here at the hotel.  We will leave later this evening to attend both the ice breaker event and the Opening Ceremony at the Host School.

I will let you know later tonight how those went,.
